1st day of School

It is that time of year again. Braxton started school on August 17th as a first grader. He loves school and was so excited to go and meet his new teacher and new friends. He is attending Osgood Elementary School. In North Platte, there are school boundaries but you can call the school and request to go to a different one if you would like. He was suppose to go to Jefferson but we heard that it was a little rough and statistics showed only 4 out 10 on test scores. We were able to get him into Osgood, testing scores 9 out of 10 and only about 10-15 in his class. North Platte doesn't use buses unless you live far out of town, so I load up Katie and Marshall and take Braxton to school, we leave about 7:30 and for this week we pick him up at 2:00 but starting next week it will be 3:20. A long day for my big guy but he loves to go. On his first day of school we all loaded up and went to school. It has been nice to have Wes around and to participate, he wouldn't get a picture but he did go with us.

A day at Daddy's work.

I am sure that some are getting tired of my posts, but that is okay cause I love posting my pictures of my sweet children and family. Today Wes decided to take a day off of overtime and spend it with the children and I. Tomorrow is Braxton's first day of school and he still isn't feeling well but we decided to take them to a place called Cody Park and enjoy the outdoors. The kids loved playing on the trains and having their daddy show them what he does at work. They are quite thrilled that there daddy works on these big fun toys. Even Braxton had tons of fun, but then crashed when we got home. The news update on him: we are waiting for lots of blood work to come back, hopefully tomorrow or Thursday but probably Friday. Sorry there are so many pictures, but again I love showing off my family.

The state of Corn

I now live in the state of Corn instead of potatoes. The other day Katie, Marshall and I bought the corn (which is always fun with those really cheap bags they put them in and hauling them out to the car then up 3 flights of stairs). Later we husked the corn and cooked it. Then we cut it and bagged it. Katie was a trooper, she helped during all of this and we only made a little bit of a mess, unless you ask her daddy. Marshall really enjoyed throwing the strings all other the place and eating the corn, he tried most pieces of corn for me. As for the end result we got over 30 bags of corn for less than $4.00.
Poor Braxton as we are all in the kitchen having fun and working together he has been sick for the past 7 days down. He started out with a stomach ache and a fever of 102.5 for 4 days. We took him in and they did blood work showed a white count of 16 and a UA which showed blood. They decieded that one if he wasn't feelng better the next day they would do a CT scan of the abdomen. The fever continued, so we took him back in. They did more blood work and showed a white count of 9.9 but his fever was 104.4. They told us since the white count had come down to hold off on the CT scan but come call back tomorrow. Again fever continued so I called, they told me to find a new doctor. So I have been contacting my Idaho doctor (thanks Moser) for info and just waiting for something. And this is the great state of Nebraska I moved to!!

New Look

As most of you noticed my blog has a new look. My kids picture is at the top a cute background, and now I can follow other blogs (if you have a blog, I would love the address). This change is not because of me. It is because of my great sister in law who loves me and helps me in the best of ways. The reason I wanted to post something today was to show you all my adorable kids and the pictures the Amber Lou took for me before we left Idaho. Amber we love you and miss you Brooklyn, and Carter. Marshall doesn't have anyone to sit on and ride like a horse that is smaller than him. The kids got tired half way through taking pictures so I gave them all suckers, made everything better.

A moment together

I can't believe school is already to start, in Nebraska they start on the 17th. All together we went to register the kids for school. Braxton will be in first grade and Katie was going to go to Kindergarten. Wes and I have been debating back and forth if she should go or wait one more year. She just barely turned five and has more interest in her dolls and toys than learning and going to school. When we discussed this with the principal and also found out they go to school from 8:05 to 3:20 every day, we decided she is not quite ready. All day and everyday is too much for her or maybe me. So instead Katie, Marshall and I get to learn and play together while Braxton gets to go to school. Another different thing in NE is there are no buses to the school unless you will way out of town so you usually get to pick your school as long as the classes aren't full. We researched and talked to lots of different people. The school we are sending him to is a little school named Osgood. This brings back so many memories, the same name as my elementary in Idaho and about the same size and family oriented. On the way home from the school we stopped by one of the few things to do in North Platte, the Lake. I would let the kids play in the water and get dirty because they had their school clothes on, but we still had fun.

Our new adventure

Well, we have been in Nebraska for 8 days now. I feel like I have left a moment of craziness to a moment of quietness (besides Marshall who is getting all 4 molars at once). Wes is always workng during the evenings and nights and sleeping during the days. He is working five 12 hour shifts and usually another 8 on day six and sometimes even another 4 hours on day seven. So, pretty much the kids and I are on our own. Our schedule usually ends up waking up at 6:30, laying around for a little while, eating breakfast, the kids usually play with all of their toys that have been packed since mid September while I am unpacking a million boxes and trying to find the right spot for all of our stuff. You don't realize how much stuff you have until 10 railroad workers haul it up 3 flights of stairs in 100 degree weather with humidity. After we all get tired, Marshall usually takes a nap while the kids and I go down to the pool. We usually stay for about 2 or more hours, they love to play in the sun and I love to lay around and soak up the sun. When Marshall wakes up we come back up for lunch for lots of playing and unpacking with cleaning until dinner, then we play some more and then bedtime. As you can tell this is a different life than what I am use to. It feels like a vacation from work. All we do is play and unpack. Next week we will get back into real life as school starts and the weather starts to change.
